World 1-78: Doodle God

Doodle God
http://www.kongregate.com/games/Badim/doodle-god

Doodle God is a very unique point and click style game where your duty is to mix and match a basic set of four elements to unlock further elements, combining the new ones with the old ones until you have discovered them all. As an added measure of difficulty, each element expands further, becoming a group with new elements inside of it. For example, when you combine Fire with Earth, you unlock Lava, which goes into the Fire group and can then be used with any of the other elements or group pieces that you have.

As mentioned, you have four basic elements to begin with. These elements are: Fire, Earth, Air, and Water. Using these elements, you can quickly expand your collection. Once you craft your first few elements, this game gets super addicting. As an added bonus, as you unlock each new element a matching quote or proverb is provided, which adds to the whole zen feel to this game. This matches with the relaxing background music that plays in contrast to you, as you sit there furiously trying to remember what else you have left to try and wondering why you didn't think of that combination sooner.

Another thing that I liked about Doodle God is that unlocking elements with combinations actually makes sense (Mega Man should be ashamed! Thinking that their boss weaknesses made any sense, pft!). For example, when you mix Earth with Air, you get Dust. Simple! Sometimes, the later ones almost seem like a stretch, but they still usually make sense. That's always nice.

All in all, I'd recommend Doodle God to anybody looking for a simple, inviting puzzle game to take up half an hour or so of your time. Doodle God is very original, and if you want more, there are plenty of sequels to invest your time in as well!

World 1-77: Deadly Neighbours

Deadly Neighbours
http://www.kongregate.com/games/nerdook/deadly-neighbours

Right out of the gate in Deadly Neighbours, you can customize your three characters (referred to as your family in game). You can pick all sorts of creative designs for the hair, eyes, clothing, and other things, all nicely designed in the distinct Nerdook style. All three characters start with two seemingly random weapons, which you will use to attack your neighbours in a quest to repay the loan shark you borrowed $25,000 from in order to purchase your house in this lovely neighbourhood.

Using action points awarded at the beginning of each turn, you must decide your course of action for each family member. By clicking on a weapon, you will select it for use for that turn. There are environmental items that can be laid on the ground, which can affect you or your enemies. Fire is a good example, which burns anybody who walks over it. At the end of each level, you can pick a weapon dropped by your slain enemies to give to a family member, or dump it in a spare storage area for later use. You can also unlock perks, reaching more and more according to how much money you gain throughout the game. Perks can be used on each family member to upgrade stats, such as the "Stone Skin" perk, which adds +10 HP to that family member, or "Quick Feet" which makes that member immune to slippery surfaces and allows them to jump twice as high.

There is also a pretty cool mini-game called "Deadly Drive" where you use your mouse to move a van up and down along a side-scrolling street, mowing down all your neighbours while avoiding pylons. There are also 12 Stamps you can collect, which is really just another term for "achievements."

All in all, Deadly Neighbours is a seemingly simple game that takes awhile to master. I never did figure it out that well, but it made for an alright play. However, I am sure there are other people out there who would be much more interested in it than I was.

World 1-76: Bloons Super Monkey

Bloons Super Monkey

If you're a fan of the Bloons series, then this is a game for you to try! Bloons Super Monkey is less puzzle-oriented, and more action central. You play as a super monkey, flying through the air, popping as many bloons as humanely (monkely?) possible. As per other Bloons games, you can many familiar upgrades, such as more darts thrown at once and boomerangs. There are also some interesting new additions, such as the plasma tentacle, which shoots out like an arm to pop extra bloons.

Overall, there aren't many things I can find fault in with Bloons Super Monkey. While I could say that the music doesn't seem to fit the theme of the game, I am sure there are more than a few people who really enjoyed it - which in the end is still a great thing. This is also a game where the creator put some thought into game functions, as he has included separate buttons to mute the sound effects and the music (which, if you've read any of my other Kongregate reviews, you will know is a big deal to me). This is also a game you can come back to more than once, as there is little by means of a learning curve, and a lot by means of entertainment.

World 1-75: Achievement Unlocked 2

Achievement Unlocked 2

Achievement Unlocked 2 is an extremely fun game. Every single movement you make basically unlocks a new achievement... sure, it's poking fun at how easy some achievements in games are to get, or how excessive they are, but hey it's a lot of fun! You can play in two different modes - Free Play or Time Trial (both pretty self-explanatory). In the Time Trial, you are given 4 minutes to see how many achievements you can unlock. I prefer the Free Play mode because I like to be thorough on a game like this. This game is full of features, such as an in-game timer to make it easier to get timed achievements (such as doing nothing for 10 seconds), and a big list on the right that tells you the name of each achievement. Of course, there is no description for the achievements... that's all part of the fun. You can also collect coins to buy expansions, which add an extra floor to explore. Another super helpful tool featured in this game is a percent tracker - it tells you what percent of the achievements you have currently obtained, so you will always know how close you are to completing the game.

All in all, this game is pretty addictive and enjoyable. The music is catchy, the graphics are nice and clean, and there are endless possibilities to explore. I highly recommend this game to, well, just about anybody!

World 1-74: Fragger

Fragger

If you're familiar with Angry Birds, then you will have an excellent idea what kind of game this is. If you aren't - get out of the internet. You do not belong here.

Fragger is the same style of game as Angry Birds, where you throw certain items across the board to eliminate your enemies. In this game, there are 30 levels of entertaining and totally non-committal fun. All you need to do is launch your grenades at the masked enemy, using the arrow above your head to gauge how hard (and at what angle) to throw.

The graphics are clean cut, the sound effects fit well, and there are even in-game trophies for those completionists out there. A useful tip for those of you who want to try this game: You can hit space to blow up your grenade at any time, but it will fire as a blank (it won't kill the enemies) if used before the grenade would blow up naturally. It's a handy little way to keep the game moving at your own pace, as waiting for a misfire to blow up can be pretty frustrating for the impatient (like me).

World 1-73: Escape the 13th floor

Escape the 13th floor
http://www.kongregate.com/games/FlongaGames/escape-the-13th-floor

Escape the 13th floor is, unsurprisingly, an escape-the-room game. As far as this genre goes, this game isn't very unique. It's actually quite simple - like every other game in this genre, all you can really do is walk around clicking on things until you eventually come across some items that you can take with you and use elsewhere. In this particular game, you start on the janitor's floor and work your way through different departments of what I always assumed was your place of employment. Overall, this game is nothing to write home about, but it's kind of entertaining if you are looking for a standard escape game to fill up half an hour or so of your time.

World 1-72: Color Theory

Color Theory
http://www.kongregate.com/games/BGamesSite/color-theory

Wow, it really bugs me that I have to write "color" instead of "colour", but as that is the title of the game, alas I cannot change it.

Color Theory is a thoroughly entertaining game. Each map is composed of several different layers of colours that you stand on which you must strategically turn on and off in order to make it to your goal. To play, you must walk through little icons located around the levels that have different effects on the map. Oftentimes you will need to make a leap of faith and just hope like hell that your guy will land somewhere safe - and that in itself is incredibly enjoyable. Other times, the map will be too big to plan out your every move, so you will need to just dive in and see what happens when you hit certain switches. There are also other level modifiers, such as the arrow icon which flips the gravity upside down, and spikes that kill you when you land on them. The game gets increasingly difficult, keeping you on edge and intrigued.

Overall, I found Color Theory to be well worth the play through. Its simple yet effective design, and the original twist on the already-awesome genre of platformers, make it a great play.
